HUMOROUS STORY Two senior couples are walking along, wives in front, husbands in back. Herb says to Sam, “Gee, we went to a new restaurant last night and had the best meal ever. Good prices too.”
Sam says, “Well, we like to eat out too. What was the name of the restaurant?”
Herb says, “You’ll going to have to help me out here a little. What’s the name of that pretty flower, smells sweet, grows on a thorny bush?” Sam says, “Rose?”
“Yes, yes, that’s it!” cries Herb, then calls ahead to his wife. “Rose. Hey, Rose. What was the name of the restaurant we ate at last night?”
Comment: Our memory of Biblical truths quickly gets dull, and requires regular maintenance; the easiest things we forget most quickly, thanks to the devil and his lies.

OLD NEWS / THOUGHT-PROVOKING (Tehran) Hundreds of villagers from Negel, in Kurdistan province on the Iraqi border, have held a week-long protest at the village mosque demanding officials hunt down the thieves and return the leather-bound Koran to its rightful home. The missing Koran, which is written in the angular Kufic script with gilded page borders, dates from the 7th century. Hundreds of Negel women were shown protesting outside the village’s mosque, wailing and reciting the Koran while brandishing black banners of mourning. “The mourning will continue until the book is found,” one of the women said.

Comment: Would you stop everything if you couldn’t find your Bible?

QUOTE One of the things I remember from my childhood is our family devotion held after every evening meal. It is this consistency of family devotions which both my husband and I have brought to our family. If it hadn’t been in our childhood, it may have been omitted in our children’s.
Moldstad, Joslyn. The Role of Woman in the Home, the Church and Society, p. 18 June 28, 2004. Christian News, Vol. 42, No. 26
Comment: If we don't start... or don't continue the practice of discussing God's Word at home, can we hope that our children will?

NEW TOPIC! ILLUSTRATION A Kid was perched up on the top of a house, and looking down saw a Wolf passing under him. Immediately he began to revile and attack his enemy. “Murderer and thief,” he cried, “what do you here near honest folks’ houses? How dare you make an appearance where your vile deeds are known?”
“Curse away, my young friend,” said the Wolf. “It is easy to be brave from a safe distance.”
Aesop - The Wolf and the Kid
Comment: So it is easy, also for us, to curse the devil when we are in God’s house, but how are you when you face him alone, without the presence of the pastor or the encouragement of your fellow-believers? Is this the only place where you make use of God’s Word? If so, then you should be afraid when you leave this house. If you climb the tree only once a week, the wolf has 6 other days to find you and to gobble you up!

HUMOR A ten-year old, under the tutelage of her grandmother, was becoming quite knowledgeable about the Bible. Then, one day, she floored her grandmother by asking, “Which Virgin was the mother of Jesus? The Virgin Mary or the King James Virgin?”
