A couple of downstaters are out hunting deer in the northwoods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. His partner whips out his cell phone and calls 911. He gasps to the operator, “My friend is dead! What can I do?”
The operator, in a calm soothing voice says, “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”
...There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The hunter’s voice comes back on the line. He says, “OK, now what?”
Comment: The Law is that final shot that reveals to us, “Yep, that soul is dead without God. There is no human hope possible.” It’s then that God says, “Never fear. What’s impossible for man is not impossible for Me.”

“Skipper,” the sailor said to his captain as he saluted, “A special message just came in for you from the admiral. I have it right here.”
“Read it to me,” the captain ordered.
The sailor read, “You are without a doubt the most idiotic, lame-brained officer ever to command a ship in the United States Navy.”
The skipper responded, “Have that communication decoded at once!”
Comment: Even when the Law speaks quite clearly to the sins that we have committed, we prefer to think that the Law is merely speaking figuratively, that God can’t really be that angry with us.

(Jerusalem) A passenger on Israel’s El Al airlines got a complimentary gift on a flight home from Germany -- a pistol that security guards slipped into his suitcase. El Al personnel, the Haaretz daily reported, sometimes sneak fake guns into the bags of unwitting passengers to test if security staff can spot them. One replica went undetected and was found by the startled passenger when he unpacked at home.
El Al Packs Some Heat for Unwitting Passenger Mon Mar 15, 8:45 AM ET Reuters – Oddly Enough
Comment: The mirror of God’s Law doesn’t simply plant sin on us that really isn’t ours. It is a real accusation. Whoever hates is a murderer. Hate is not a fake gun. If God finds it on you. He’ll hold you accountable. After all, you planted it there yourself, not anyone else.

During May [of 2004] 4.6 billion gallons of untreated sewage were dumped into Lake Michigan. Thomas Skinner, the EPA administrator for six Midwestern states, including Wisconsin, said, “Whether this was a once-in-five-year event or a once-in-95-year event, dumping that kind of volume into the lake is not acceptable”
The EPA has initiated lawsuits to force sewer fixes in a variety of cities around the country, but such litigation often takes years to resolve. Atlanta is planning a $1.95 billion sewer fix that includes building 20 miles of underground storage tunnels similar to Milwaukee’s and separating some of its sewers in the wake of lawsuits by the EPA and an environmental group. Atlanta also paid $23 million in fines.

Comment: Sin is as bad as sewage in God’s eyes; whether everyday or once in a lifetime.
