Bible / Law - Not the Only Message

A layman asked preachers: ‘Why do you give 18 minutes to an analysis of man’s need for the gospel, and only two minutes to the gospel as the answer to the need?’

Bible / Law - Not the Last Word

After the Israelites left Egypt, Mt. Sinai was not the end of the road for them. The law of God is not God’s final word to the human race. It’s an important word, a word that must be heard, but it’s not the last word.

Bible / Law - Misplaced Praise

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
but those who keep the law resist them.

Bible / Law - Law & Public Opinion

Judge Coffey (served as a conservative Wisconsin judge for fifty years) speaking on the “acrimony” between political parties and its effect on judicial appointments: “It is no longer the most qualified. The requirement today seems to be, from what I see, ‘Do you agree with the mass judgment of what is right or wrong?’” He said the atmosphere is much different than the ease with which he was appointed to the federal bench by Ronald Reagan in 1982, after 28 years of earning a staunchly conservative reputation in Milwaukee courts. “I do not think I would be confirmed today,” Coffey said, adding that it would probably be blocked for the same reasons he decided about 1980 that he couldn’t win a U.S. Senate race. “I said then that I vote my convictions, and that’s not what politics is today.”

Nunnally, Derrick. A half-century of laying down the law
June 27, 2004. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Comment: Thankfully public opinion does not change God's perfect law. Unfortunately public opinion rules a democracy and will eventually be its downfall. Believe it or not, just because 9 people in a room of 10 think the same way... that doesn't make them right.

Bible / Law - Insufficient Funds

Why do banks charge you a “non-sufficient funds fee” on money they already know you don’t have?

Author: Unknown

Comment: Some ask 'Why does God demand that we do good works, if we are unable to do what he asks?' (Be holy in all that you do.) He does it to show that we can’t, because we are so proud, we actually think that we can.
